I came across a great article about the importance of kids drinking water as a way of fighting childhood obesity. It's a great reminder that our calories are best consumed in real food - not beverages and can easily be applied to adults too!
Milk is fine, and a source of calcium of course - but kids should not be drinking milk all day long, it should be a drink given at meals. That way your child isn't filling up on milk and not eating their meals, and the naturally occurring sugars in milk aren't eating away at your children's teeth all day.
Juice, pop, and alcohol are all empty basically calories and should be considered treats - i.e.not for daily consumption. Many people who see me want to lose weight - these extra beverages are often one of the first things that I suggest you cut out of your diet.
If you're bored of drinking water, try adding a spritz of lemon or lime, or make a pitcher of herbal iced tea that the whole family can enjoy!

I hope you're continuing to enjoy the summer in Toronto and staying hydrated!
