As many of you know, Thanksgiving is my favourite holiday of the year. I love pumpkin pie, and mashed potatoes with gravy! Not surprisingly, I always bring a big salad as my contribution to my family Thanksgiving dinner.
Mostly I love the opportunity to give thanks. We go around the table at my family meal and tell everyone something that we're thankful for that year. My aunt always cries, it's quite endearing. I'm fortunate that I find it quite easy to find a list of things to be thankful for on any given day, but I know that finding the small things can be hard for many people. Luckily, it's something that we can work on and get better at. Some people call them glimmers - micro-moments of joy or happiness.
These little things can help calm the nervous system and put a new spin on your day. Research shows that practicing gratitude can lead to improved mental health, stronger relationships, and a greater sense of well-being. When we acknowledge and appreciate the good in our lives, we shift our focus away from what we lack, fostering a more positive outlook.
Here are my 3 glimmers today:
1. My husband and dog (Donna) walked me to the subway at 7am this morning.
2. The sun is shining!
3. I've got a break in my schedule today so I can do some great learning on PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome).
I hope you all have a great thanksgiving and would love to hear about your glimmers.
