I've been seeing a lot of hair loss recently and thought I should write a quick note about it.

There are many potential causes of hair loss that may include:

- hypothyroidism

- iron & B12 deficiency

- stress

- hormonal changes

- post-partum

- dieting

- some specific medications

- auto-immune conditions

- food sensitivities

In most people that I see, hair loss is most often caused by vitamin deficiencies or stress - and if so is reversible.  It is important when treating hair loss that we try to find the root cause - because supplementing with all the iron in the world won't help if the loss is because of hormonal changes.  I unfortunately don't usually find that special "hair-growth" shampoos are effective (though there was a promising study on Rosemary oil), and I try to work from the inside out to solve the problem.

I also want to mention how stressful it is for some people when they notice hair loss - it is very common for people to start crying as they discuss their hair with me.  If you're having any issues, please reach out and let's try and reverse it!
